Carlos Alcántara Vilar (Lima, 1964), also known as "Cachín," is an iconic Peruvian actor, comedian, and producer. He grew up in the Cercado de Lima district and worked at the Feria del Hogar (Home Fair). He rose to fame in the 1990s as a member of the Pataclaun theater group, playing the endearing character Machín Cárcamo. His greatest achievement came in 2013 with the film ¡Asu Mare!, based on his autobiographical monologue, which became the highest-grossing film in Peruvian cinema history. After starring in its successful sequels, he made his directorial debut in 2023 with the spin-off ¡Asu Mare! Los amigos. Beyond his major successes on the big screen, his notable filmography includes dramas such as Perro Guardián (2014) and international comedies like Lusers (2015). He remains active in both production and directing within the local film industry.
